The Language Gallery prides itself in offering a range of English and German language courses across a variety of cities. For the UK, you have the choice of studying English in London, Manchester or Birmingham. In Canada, you can study in Toronto or Vancouver. We also offer German language courses in Hannover, and German and English Language courses in Berlin.
The General German A1 course teaches the foundations of the German language at a beginner level (A1 according to the CEFR). The course will help you develop your knowledge and practice your grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary.
This will improve your comprehension and understanding of the basic elements of the German language and cover such topics as reading, writing and listening.
Since the A1 course is the beginning of your German studies, you will cover the following:
Introducing yourself and others The German alphabet and numbers Speaking about family, work and leisure Communicating in everyday situations.
After taking this course, you will: Understand and have the ability to use everyday expressions and basic phrases Be able to introduce yourself and others Have the ability to ask and answer personal questions about where you live or things you have.
The General German A2 level will broaden your linguistic skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening learned at the A1 level as well as developing a wider vocabulary to help build your confidence in communicating in German. You will also be introduced to Basic Study Skills and German Cultural Studies sessions.
The A2 course has much more emphasis on learning German vocabulary and enriching the student’s grammar. You can continue building on the skills you’ve already learned but now go more in-depth into German communication.
Topics covered include:
Communicating about youth and childhood Holidays and travelling Health Colours and clothes Biographies
After taking this course, you will: Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to family, shopping, local geography and employment Be able to communicate effectively in interactions which involve exchange of information.
General German B1 allows you to grasp more mature and accurate communication style building on the German language skills acquired in A1 and A2.
In this course, you will consolidate your ability to function in a German speaking environment and begin to learn more complex grammar and vocabulary. The B1 course is designed to maximise your stay in Germany and ensure you have the skills to function in a variety of situations on a day-to-day basis.
The B1 level has a focus on person-to-person interaction and students will focus on communicating more with each other.
Topics covered include:
Speaking about relationships How to do transactions in shops Articulating future aspirations and professions Problem solving in German
After taking this course, you will: Understand how to discuss issues relating to work, leisure time, events, ambitions and experiences Have the ability to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where German is spoken Be able to produce simple texts about topics which are familiar or of personal interest.
The General German Upper Intermediate B2 course will focus on building your confidence in communicating in German.
You will learn key German grammar and language at an upper intermediate level B2, focusing on understanding and generating advanced level C1 German. This course will help students able to communicate in German independently, with correct pronunciation and vocabulary.
After taking this course, you will: understand complex text on a variety of topics, including technical discussions in your specialist field. interact with a degree of fluency making interaction with native speakers possible. create detailed text on a wide range of subjects, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of various topical issues.

It is also easily accessible via the nearest Clevertor tram station, directly outside of the building. We are within walking distance to popular shopping areas, restaurants, theatres, bars, parks, sport and cultural event centre
